Transcription Factor Priority List

C. elegans and D. melanogaster modENCODE projects will be using CHIP-chip/sequencing technology to map out transcription factor binding sites at the whole genome level. The availability of suitable antibodies as well as community priorities are important factors in deciding which transcription factors will be mapped first.
  • The C. elegans project led by Michael Snyder will be pursuing a tagging strategy in which they create transcription factor fusion proteins with GFP and/or mCherry. These fusion proteins will then be used to identify the expression patterns of transcription factors and as targets for anti-fusion protein antibodies for chromatin immunoprecipitation.

  • The project led by Kevin White will be using a more traditional ChIP-chip design to immunoprecipitate chromatin using anti-transcription factor antibodies.
